Nature-Based Healing Retreats, Educational Workshops, and More

  • Nature-Based Healing Retreats

Research shows that time in nature can reduce stress, elevate mood, enhance cognitive function, improve sleep, boost immunity and promote healing and recovery in a multitude of ways. Nature-based therapy is a proven intervention for individuals who are recovering from addiction, depression, and trauma. In our fast-paced and complex world, resilience and personal growth can be found when we step away from everyday routines and challenges, pausing to reflect, take a breath and build authentic connections with the land and each other in a community of support.

In partnership with organizations that share our focus, we will offer multi-day retreats for small groups of up to 15, at no cost to participants. With access to practitioners who have expertise in a variety of modalities, each retreat will be customized to best meet the unique needs of participants. Retreats will include lodging, meals, and a selection of therapeutic activities, such as:

    • Group and individual coaching/counseling

    • Mindfulness and somatic workshops

    • Nature therapy, hiking, wildlife photography and fly-fishing

    • Indigenous healing practices such as sweat ceremonies

Programs will begin once the retreat center is complete. Stay tuned for more information.

  • Educational Workshops

When the retreat center is ready we will launch a series of educational workshops to introduce Bozeman and the surrounding communities to our approach to personal growth and wellness. These events will be open to the public, with fees on a sliding scale to ensure accessibility to those with the greatest need. Our current vision includes:

    • Leadership development training

    • Mindfulness workshops

    • Nature-based therapy programs

    • Yoga, meditation, and somatic healing events

    • Sober retreats

  • Grantmaking

In the future we plan to offer two types of grants to mission-aligned nonprofits that are working to increase access to nature-based healing opportunities:

Retreat Grants for groups affiliated with aligned nonprofit organizations to cover the cost of travel and participation in nature-based healing retreats at Howlers Ridge. In addition to trauma-informed retreats, grants can also support nonprofit staff and practitioners in need of a pause to reground and prevent burnout.

General Operating Grants to support program and administrative costs for nonprofits that offer nature-based healing opportunities.

Stay tuned for more details on the launch of the grantmaking process. If you are a nonprofit organization interested in learning more about grant opportunities, please complete this form.
